Well, folks, the new year is upon us. With every new year comes the overwhelming anxiety to complete resolutions and make big changes. However, there is no need fret. Here are some helpful tips to help you reach those goals.

Before we get into how to keep our New Year's resolutions, we should first figure out what it is we want to achieve. These resolutions could include bettering our relationships, mental health, or physical health.

To better our relationships, there are many things we could try. Some of these things include saying “Thank you” and saying " I love you” more often. We often get so caught up in life that it's easy to forget how meaningful these words are to those around us. Other things to try include offering help before being asked and not letting arguments or disagreements fester. Oftentimes, people feel overwhelmed with all the tasks they have to do in a day. If you see someone struggling with a task, offer some help. This small gesture can help brighten their day and show them that you care.  When it comes to arguments, we often want to be right. However, being right doesn't mean much if you could end up losing someone important to you. Talk about the misunderstandings and try to figure out solutions together.

When it comes to our mental health, we often put it on the back burner. Here are some ways to help improve our mental health. Start journaling about your day. This can help you process your feelings, find patterns, and even help you find small things to be grateful for. Taking breaks, doing breathing exercises, or being outside can all help reduce stress and help you stay calm. Being kinder to yourself and speaking to someone when were feeling overwhelmed can also be beneficial to your mental health.

Physical health is a common goal many have. However, many people become overwhelmed or discouraged if they don't reach their goal by a certain time. The number one thing to remember is to start small. You can start by moving your body every day. This can be a short walk or simply stretching. Drinking more water and eating healthier foods are other ways to better ones health. Carrying a water bottle with you can help remind you to hydrate more. As for eating healthier, keeping healthier options close by can be helpful. Talking to your doctor about what nutrients and dietary recommendations they have is also a good idea. And lastly, let's not forget about sleep. Sleep is essential for our bodies. Try to set up a routine to help your body relax and make it easier to fall asleep.

Now that we have some idea of what our goals are lets try not to get overwhelmed by all of them. As I said earlier its best to start out small. You don't have to try to do all your resolutions all at once. They don't have to start off as long commitments either. You can try doing them for short periods of time and extend the time periods as you go on. If you don't complete a goal don't be too hard on yourself. You can always try again. And lastly don't forget to congratulate yourself for the small achievements.
