UpRiver Village is currently looking for volunteers to fill the positions listed below. Please complete and submit a Volunteer Inquiry form if you're interested in filling one of these positions.
MEMBER SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS will fill requests from our members. Member support volunteers will provide services such as, but not limited to,
- Transportation
- Social visits and calls
- Occasional house work
- Occasional yard and garden work
- Handyman services (minor home maintenance and repairs)
- Grocery shopping
- Running errands
- Meal prep and meal train
- Tech support (computer, cell phone, electronic devices)
- Short-term pet care
- Seasonal tasks
- Assistance with laundry
- Drivers (additional qualification process)
All member support volunteers will be required to pass a background check, and will receive orientation and training prior to delivering services.
VILLAGE SUPPORT VOLUNTEERS will provide administrative support for the organization.
The Steering Council Secretary will attend and record minutes of Steering Council meetings and post in Google Workspace. The Secretary will occasionally represent UpRiver Village at community tabling and other events. The Secretary is a key volunteer role that will contribute to organizational decision making about policies, procedures, operations and finance.
The Outreach Team Leader will oversee and coordinate a small team of volunteers that will reach out to new individuals, agencies and organizations that also serve seniors to schedule discussions or presentations. They will also research and schedule tabling opportunities at farmers markets and other public events. This is a key volunteer position that is also a member of the UpRiver Village Steering Council.
The Outreach Assistant will work with others to develop lists of individuals and organizations with missions and interests that align with UpRiver Village, and will reach out to these people and organizations to schedule discussions, presentations, or tabling opportunities.
The Communications Team Leader will oversee and coordinate a small team of volunteers who will promote and get the word out about UpRiver Village in print (website, newsletter, social media posts, brochures, signage and collateral materials, newspaper articles and ads, etc.).
The Communications Assistant will contribute in one of the following areas: website updates and maintenance, newsletter creation, newspaper articles and ads, brochures, social media posts,signage and collateral materials, etc.
The Member Management Assistant will work with others to respond to membership inquires, enroll new UpRiver Village members, process member renewals, provide initial member orientation, assess member satisfaction and offer ideas for improving member services.
The Volunteer Management Assistant will work with others to recruit, manage, retain and recognize UpRiver Village administrative and direct service volunteers.
The Transportation Coordinator will manage the onboarding of new volunteer drivers (check drivers license, registration, insurance, driving record, safe driver course completion, acceptable on-road driver test, etc.)
The Driver Tester will conduct on-road in-person driving tests of prospective volunteer drivers using a provided scoring system. This position requires additional training beyond regular volunteer and driver training.
The Tech Support team member will assist with orienting and supporting UpRiver Village members and volunteers to Helpful Village software and Google Workspace.
Event Planning Assistants will help plan, organize and put on UpRiver Village social, recreational, educational and cultural events and activities for our members.
The Office Coordinator will schedule volunteers and assure coverage of our virtual office from 10-2 Mon-Fri.
Office volunteers are needed to staff our virtual office and respond to emails, phone calls and member service requests from 10-2 one day each week. This can be done from your home.
The Event Tabling Coordinator will research opportunities for tabling at community events, register UpRiver Village, and secure volunteer staffing for these tabling events.
