Why do we ask for donations and charge membership fees?
By Kimberly JuarezPosted: 02/05/2026
With UpRiver Village opening and being in full swing for a while now, many may wonder why we ask for donations and charge membership fees. Hopefully, this article will help answer those questions and provide a deeper look into what UpRiver Village does.
Before we begin, we would like to thank all our members and sponsors. Without your support, UpRiver Village would not be able to offer services to seniors in our community.
Upriver Village offers many services, such as transportation, help with yard work, technology help, chores, and much more. UpRiver Village also helps create and host events that all village members and volunteers can attend for little to no cost. All of these events require a significant amount of planning, which can, for the most part, be done thanks to administrative systems and training systems. Thankfully, Villages NW offers these services to us. Their fees totaled $1,036.78 in 2025.
Other expenses that allow us to continue our work include Liability Insurance, Computer Fees, Postage, Defensive Driver Training, Volunteer Background Checks, and Outreach and Marketing. Liability Insurance costs were $230.55. The Computer Services that are offered to us by Helpful Village totaled $955.01. Postage Fees, which included our annual P.O. Box fee and mailing Annual Appeal Letters, totaled $391.66. Our Defensive Driver Training cost $59.40. Volunteer Background checks cost $1,096.25. Outreach and Marketing costs, which included brochures, bookmarks, printing, and design, amounted to $1,220.08.
Lastly, are the costs associated with supplies, events/meetings, and appreciation gifts. Supply costs were $96.92. Event and meeting expenses totaled $962.42. Appreciation gifts cost $124.11. Our 2025 expenses totaled $7,256.28.
UpRiver Village is thankful for your donations and help. These donations help keep UpRiver Village going. We hope to continue to help seniors in our area with your help.
